Employment Specialist — Part Time

Service Area: Woodbridge and Stafford, Virginia
Compensation: $22 per hour

RISE Services LLC is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and proactive Employment Specialist to support individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment throughout Woodbridge and Stafford.

This position combines individualized employment support, employer outreach, job development, and on-the-job coaching. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, follows through on commitments, and is comfortable working independently in the community.

What You Will Do

Develop individualized employment goals: Assess clients’ strengths, interests, skills, and support needs and help turn their goals into practical action steps.
Build job readiness: Assist with resumes, applications, interview preparation, workplace communication, and professional expectations.
Actively develop job opportunities: Contact and visit employers, build relationships with hiring managers, and identify opportunities that match each client’s goals and abilities.
Support the hiring process: Help clients complete applications, prepare for interviews, and communicate with prospective employers.
Provide hands-on job coaching: Support clients at their workplaces as they learn tasks, build confidence, establish routines, and develop positive working relationships.
Address employment challenges: Identify barriers early, help clients problem-solve, and coordinate with supervisors and employers as appropriate.
Document services accurately: Complete timely service notes, progress reports, and other required documentation that clearly describe services provided and progress toward goals.
Communicate and follow through: Maintain professional communication with clients, employers, referral partners, and the RISE team.
Manage your schedule responsibly: Plan client appointments, employer outreach, travel, and documentation while meeting service expectations.
Participate in training: Attend required meetings and professional development activities.

Schedule and Travel Expectations

This is a part-time position serving clients throughout Woodbridge and Stafford.
Services are provided in person at workplaces and other community locations.
Scheduling must align with client appointments, employer availability, and job-coaching needs.
Reliable attendance, punctuality, and consistent follow-through are essential.
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required for travel within the service area.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human services, or a related field; relevant work experience may be considered in place of a degree.
Experience supporting individuals with disabilities, diverse populations, or people facing barriers to employment.
Strong communication, organization, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and seek guidance when needed.
Comfort approaching employers and building professional relationships.
Ability to provide patient, respectful, individualized coaching while encouraging independence.
Ability to use electronic systems for scheduling, communication, and accurate documentation.
Knowledge of employment resources, workplace accommodations, or vocational rehabilitation services is helpful.

Compensation and Benefits

$22 per hour
Mileage reimbursement in accordance with company policy.
Employee Assistance Program.
Employee tenure bonuses, subject to program eligibility.

This part-time position is not eligible for benefits designated for full-time employees, including medical, dental, and vision insurance; PTO and holiday accrual; short-term disability; and life insurance and long-term care options.
